House Delport

House Delport is a triple storey private residence situated within the historic town of Mossel Bay, South Africa. The client’s brief was a modern, four-bedroom dwelling maximising the site’s spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.

The design challenge was to create a building where the convenience of modern-day living is in harmony with the historic character of its surrounds. Inspiration for the design was found in the rich Victorian architecture of the area: traditional building materials, architectural details, colours and textures were combined to echo the style of a bygone era. The generously proportioned bay windows not only provided an architectural feature but allowed for ample natural light while maximizing the magnificent views the site has to offer.
