Shamballah

Shamballah is a holistic centre situated on a small farm near Cape Point, South Africa. The design of the centre incorporates an existing timber-framed building with strong linear lines. The design brief was to create a multifunctional space that links the guests to the natural surroundings both physically and spiritually. Movable walls, light-framed structures and ample glass were some of the elements used to create a building sympathetic to its environment. The resulting structure was a building that sits very lightly within the landscape. The use of interconnecting spaces, both covered and uncovered, achieved flexibility in use but also created a building in harmony with its natural surroundings
